THE FIRST BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF TANZANIA ASSOCIATION OF MICROFINANCE INSTITUTIONS

The Annual General Meetings of Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) and the Coalition of Tanzania Microfinance Practitioners and Service Providers Ltd held on 27th July 2010 at Peacock Hotel, Dar-es-Salaam, unanimously agreed to merge into one umbrella Association and agreed to retain the name of TAMFI.

The following Directors were appointed:-
1. Mr. Edmund.P.Mkwawa Managing Director DCB
2. Mr. Joel Mwakitalu Managing Director Global Associates Ltd
3. Mr.Altemius Millinga Executive Director YOSEFO
4. Mr. Abiah N.Kaaya Project Manager SELF- Project
5. Ms. Felistas Coutinho Executive Director Tujijenge Tanzania
6. Mr. Hassan Said Salum Executive Director WEDTF Zanzibar

The first Board of TAMFI which met on 10th August 2010 unanimously elected Mr. Edmund P.Mkwawa the Chairman of TAMFI and Mr. Joel Mwakitalu the Vice Chairman.

The new TAMFI will focus on mobilizing new members, promote capacity building programmes to members, promote communication and networking among members and other microfinance stakeholders, and strengthen cooperation with the Government and development partners. It will further continue with advocacy, lobbying and dissemination of information to enhance the microfinance sector in Tanzania
